Tradition of giving
TEPCON Cares founder Tom Pritscher began a tradition of giving in a simple but meaningful way: each holiday season, he gave every employee $100 with one request — use it to make a positive impact in someone else’s life.
That first year, Tom was stunned by what came back.
Employees shared heartfelt stories of generosity, compassion, and unexpected connections. The impact wasn’t just felt by the individuals receiving help, it deeply affected the employees as well. What started as a small gesture quickly became something much bigger: a reminder of the power each person has to create change.
The tradition has continued every year since, and when our team gathers to share how they used their $100 to uplift someone else, the results are consistently moving. There’s rarely a dry eye in the room.
Inspired by the success of the $100 Impact Challenge, Tom wanted to build something that could serve the community year-round. That vision led to the creation of our TEPCON Cares “Cares Bags” initiative.
Throughout the year, TEPCON Cares team members keep care bags in their vehicles, ready to hand out as they encounter individuals experiencing homelessness while traveling to job sites and client meetings across the Valley.
Each bag includes essential items such as:
Socks
Sanitary wipes
Toothbrushes
Snacks
An HSC You Matter card
To date, over 10,000 care bags have been distributed, small acts of kindness that collectively make a lasting difference.
